Inspiring children to love reading
Our small business began as a children's book subscription service, producing monthly book and activity boxes for subscribers.
More recently we’ve expanded and become a specialist online children’s bookshop stocking high quality chapter books, graphic novels and bookish gifts.
Meet the Parrot Street Book Club team
Parrot Street Book Club was founded in 2017 by Sarah and Emily. They met at school, aged eleven, lived together in London in their twenties, and co-founded a book club with friends that has been running for more than 15 years.
They love reading, and they love reading with their own kids. Above all else, they want to inspire a love of reading in them and to build a business that works around family life.
Emily Bright
Emily's background is in producing engaging and essential content; firstly for television documentaries and then for B2B conferences.
She takes the lead on Parrot Street Book Club's marketing activities and particularly loves crafting email campaigns and tweaking this website!
Emily lives in South West London with her husband Stuart, three children and dog.
Sarah Campbell
Sarah has worked in publishing for more than 20 years, most recently as Managing Director of a small education publisher.
She takes the lead on customer service and fulfilment for Parrot Street Book Club and is always happy to help with customer enquiries.
Sarah lives in South West London with her husband Simon, two children and two dogs.

We know that children who read for pleasure into their teens are both happier and more successful in education and beyond.
We eat, sleep and breathe children’s books and love nothing more than sharing a brilliant book that sparks a child’s enthusiasm for reading.

The research is clear: reading for pleasure helps our kids develop imagination and creativity, along with a whole range of moral, intellectual, emotional and social skills.
As passionate readers we always wanted to encourage our own kids to love reading. And yet, we found many digital distractions competing for their time and attention.
A subscription for parents like us
We created our children's book subscription service to make an exciting reading experience for kids which helped solve a problem for parents too.
Each book and activity box brings all the fun of fiction to a kid's door, unlocking a lifelong love of reading and boosting their educational and emotional development in the process.
