Parrot Street Book Club wins at the Junior Design Awards

 

The news is out! We were thrilled earlier this week to be revealed as one of the winners at this year’s Junior Design Awards #JDA20. We were awarded bronze in the Best Subscription Box category – what a fantastic early Christmas present!

The JDA judges were full of praise for our book subscription service. Alex Steadman, founder of @thefrugality, described it as ‘a fantastic concept’, while journalist Sam Dean hailed it as ‘a brilliant way to encourage kids to read.’ SKY TV presenter Sarah-Jane Mee commended our ‘clear and well-designed activity packs’ and said: ‘It’s great to see a book club that focuses on engaging children in a wide range of books, authors and genres. It’s a clever idea to make the subscription gender neutral to ensure kids get to discover more content without preconceived ideas.’ 

The kids’ subscription box market is a busy place right now, so to be recognised in this way is especially thrilling. We’re so pleased that our book subscription service stands out as something that parents really value.

And we’re popping up in Christmas gift guides too!

We’re also delighted to have been included in a few Christmas gift guides recently. Platinum magazine picked us out as a top gift recommendation for the grandkids in a feature on ethical Christmas giving in their December 2020 issue.

 

 

We’ve also featured in some fantastic online gift guides alongside other brilliant small and independent brands.

Top blogger Lisa Dawson included us in her Independent Store Gift Guide: 30 for £30 & Under. Introducing the feature, she said: ‘With thoughts of families far apart, I’m talking about easy to send but interesting food and plant presents by post, out of the ordinary subscriptions and activity based kits and boxes for all members of the family’. Our kids’ book subscription certainly fits the bill!

Children’s book reviews website Toppsta included us in their round up of the best book subscription boxes, while our gift sets have appeared in the We Got This (Sometimes) TW Christmas Gift Edit as a best gift for kids. Our book subscription was also listed in Club Hub’s Top 10 Christmas Presents for Children this week.
